Another A.Wang inspired piece from the Fall '08 runway. I took this mint condition Yves Saint Laurent skirt and simply added a front zipper and shortened it. Et voila, a contemporary look for a vintage classic. I definitely want one of these hot skirts for myself, so there will be more to come!

The 'before' of this adorable vintage dress looked a little too sleepwear-ish. This was reiterated to me when my mom asked if she could wear it... to sleep in. I'm on a hemming kick, and definitely had to shorten this babydoll. I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in the Midwest temperatures have been scorching, short and lightweight dresses like this are pretty much a necessity right now.

Finally! A new before after post and my first listing! Though nothing extravagant at all, the only alteration on this dress was a big chop off the bottom and a hemming. Amazing how different shortening a dress can change the whole look of an item.

I'm slowly (very slowly) learning my ways around Etsy and organizing all the vintage pieces I need to alter and sell. Every day I'm learning something new in the online vintage business and hope that I can get into the swing of things soon! Setting up the store is taking much more time than I expected. I want everything to be perfect and organized and of course that takes time, which I seem to lack nowadays thanks to my new full time real world career.

Thanks everyone for your comments, it really encourages me to get everything done as soon as possible and I appreciate the support! I hope avant apres fashion will eventually become a spot you regularly check out for your favorite vintage finds. :)

Sorry for the unannounced hiatus! After driving back 14 hours from San Antonio last Thursday, the July 4th weekend was filled with celebrations. I just started my first real world job yesterday and am adjusting to a new schedule, including having to wake up at *eek* 6am (almost my previous bed time). I'm slowly planning out some new before afters with all the finds from Texas, setting up an online store, and of course sewing sewing sewing. Hope you all stay tuned! :)
