The pop of color in Alexander Wang's Resort collection was that orange dress. The light fabric of this vintage dress made it perfect to recreate the tiered and flowy layers sans what I think is a cape(?)...I couldn't quite find another photo that showed the back. I didn't fully capture the A.Wangness of the inspiration since I used a printed dress and the orange color of the original is really what defines it, but overall I'm pretty happy with how the shape of my re-creation turned out. I may have to try this one again with a solid color.

anon - I use a machine and do some detail work by hand.
nychique - I took a sewing class in high school that taught me the basics and now I just kind of go through trial and error until I get it right.
You are a DIY goddess! I love your version, the print is fantastic. I actually bow down to your sewing and drawing skills!
